Puttur, May 22: Theft of gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lac has been reported from a house in Darbe here on Saturday.

Harshad, the owner of the house 'Arshad Manzil' located on Commercial Tax Office Road, and family members had locked it while on a visit to a relative in Kodipady on Friday. When they returned on Saturday afternoon the theft was detected.

The front door has been broken open with the help of a powerful implement. The miscreants have opened the cupboard in the bedroom and made away with 232-gramme gold jewellery. The value of the stolen jewellery is estimated at Rs 2 lac.

Sniffer dog squad and fingerprint experts were brought in for investigations. The Puttur town police is pursuing the case.
