Doha, Feb 5: The Bunts Qatar association organised a get-together on January 31 at New Wakrah Family Beach.
Bunts Qatar sports secretary Uday Shetty in his opening remark welcomed all and presented an overview of the event. President of the forum Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering.
Visiting Guests Bhavani Shankar Hegde and family and Shankar Shetty and family were felicitated with mementos as a sweet memory for their immense contribution in uniting Bunts community during their long stay in Qatar.
As a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation,a one minute silence was observed to commemorate his death anniversary.
The event kicked off at 8:30 am with the hoisting of the Bunts Qatar Flag and releasing the peace birds by the president Ravi Shetty along with vice-president Prakash Ajila, sports secretary Uday Shetty, Treasurer Dhananjay Shetty, ladies coordinator Vijaya N Shetty, cultural secretary Akshatha A Hegde, joint secretary Roshan Shetty, Karnataka Sangha president Deepak Shetty.
Members were divided into four groups of different colors with the captain and vice-captain designated to each group as follows.
1) Doha Warriors-Green | captain : Ravi Shetty/ Prakash Shetty (RG), vice-captain: Shobha R Shetty
2) Measeed Magnets- Blue | captain: Deepak Shetty , vice-captain: Vijaya N Shetty
3) Dukhan Devils- Red | captain: Prakash Shetty (QNCC), vice-captain: Akshaya D Shetty
4) Khor Knights- Yellow | captain; Santosh Shetty vice-captain: Padmashree R Shetty
Bunts Qatar witnessed a growth of 32 % in comparison to the previous year in terms of participation leading to an overwhelming response. In total, more than 15 games in all age groups such as Running Race for Tinytots, Hopp and Jump to Kids, Zig Zag Race to the Teens were organised.
Other games that were held for all ages were Two Legged Race, Foot ball,volley ball and Kho -Kho. All the games were supported with cheers from their respective teams and most of them had thrilling finishes. The crowd enjoyed the fun filled sportive ambience.
Bunts Qatar Sports event was also an opportunity for many children to showcase their exceptional talents in sports. Bunts Qatar had also organized the sports event keeping in view the upcoming national sports day of Qatar. Points were allotted to all the games. All the four teams played and competed well to come out victorious in various categories.
'Doha Warriors Team in Green' emerged victorious and lifted the rolling trophy, following them was " Khor Knights Team in Yellow" lifted the Runners up Trophy.
Breakfast, refreshing beverages and lunch was served at the venue.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony which was conducted at the Layan Garden club house where in the formal function was also arranged to bid farewell to the forum's senior member Pramod Kumar Rai which was compered by Prarthana Shetty.
President Ravi Shetty in his speech recalled the pleasant memories the forum spent with Pramod Kumar Rai and family, including his contribution to Qatar's development as a very competent Sr Project Engineer with one of the leading Engineering contracting company 'QCon' and he also appreciated some of the great qualities of Pramod and his wife Vasuda .
On behalf of Bunts Qatar he wished Pramod and family a pleasant and successful tenure back home with good health and peace. President and committee members, forum's senior most member Jaya Shetty handed over a memento to Pramod as a taken of love and affection. Pramod Rai in his speech thanked all his friends and expressed that although he does not have any immediate brother, he found many who are very close to him.
The sports secretary announced the winners and the forum president handed over the trophies to the winning teams. Concluding the event, the sports secretary proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who have contributed for the grand success of event.
Adding a final note to the event president Ravi Shetty applauded sports secretary Uday Shetty, for his hard work, meticulous planning in organizing such a wonderful and successful event.
The sports secretary thanked and appreciated the active support of all ATS's young and dynamic volunteers especially Chandrashekar Shetty, Vijay Rai, Sandeep Rai, Dinesh Gowda, and Subha Rao for their organization He expressed his gratitude to all the committee members especially the treasurer Dhananjay Shetty, joint secretary Roshan Shetty and to all the fellow Bunts of Qatar for the overwhelming confirmation, participation and support.
