Mangalore, May 23: A city doctor Dr Shivram Rai of the Suraksha Nursing Home here claims to possess a ‘Wonder Drug’ which can cure HIV. The doctor who revealed it to the press on Monday, May 22, said that he has been experimenting with a new medicine on three HIV positive persons at his nursing home.

The newly invented medicine (HIV Cura) is being administered with the consent of the patients, on the basis of the report from Indian Institute of Toxicology (IIT) and Italab Private Limited.

The medicine invented by Mumbai based chemical engineer P N Shashtri is being tried on humans after experimentation on rats. Shashtri also placed before the press a copy of the report issued by IIT, Pune Shashtri which states that all animals survived through the study period of 14 days. The report further stated that gross pathological examination of animals scarified at the termination of the study revealed tail gangrene in animals from 100 mg/kg dose group.

However this drug is highly questionable as the doctors have no required approvals from concerned authorities. The medicine has not been approved by the drugs controller or any competent authority.
