Kundapur, May 23: Babu (45), a resident of Belgaum who had got down from his vehicle for a stroll near the Maravante Beach here was knocked down to death by a recklessly driven Trax jeep on Tuesday May 23 morning.

Babu was on his way to Dharmasthala from Belgaum along with his family members on a pilgrimage.  On Tuesday morning all of them had got down from their vehicle at Maravante to view the beach.  Accordingly Babu was standing beside the road facing the sea when the trax which was on its way to the city from Byndoor knocked him down.

As a result he fell on the road and sustained fatal injured in his head.  He died on the spot.  The eye-witnesses said that Trax driver first lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a sugar cane juice shop before hitting Babu.  The vehicle was on such speed that it did not stop even after hitting the sugar cane juice shop.
