Sri Rama Sena opposes V-Day, burns greeting cards

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (DV)

Mangalore, Feb 14: The district unit of Sri Rama Sena on Friday February 14 condemned the celebration of Valentine's Day by burning greeting cards near MG Road junction here.

Addressing the protest, convener of Sri Rama Sena Karnataka state southern province Kumar Malemar said, "Sri Rama Sena is not opposed to the emotion of love, but we are opposed to the celebration of a particular day in the name of love."

He explained, "Love is not limited to a single day. For true lovers, each day is a celebration. Having a particular day for celebrating love is not our culture. It is derived from western culture, which we oppose."

Sri Rama Sena also urged that youngsters should not stay out late night partying in the name of Valentine’s Day celebration.

To drive home their point, Sri Rama Sena activists burned greeting cards they collected from various shops.

Dakshina Kannada president of Sri Rama Sena Jeevan Neermarga, vice-president Ganesh Attavar and others were present.

What is Valentine day? Death day of priest valentine. He was killed by king Claudius II, for opposing his decree on ban on marriage and engagement. In olden days in Rome youngsters are not interested to join the army, because of their attachment to their family. That's why king put ban on marriage. But in our country in India no such a ban on marriage. The joke is, Sri rama sene and so called lovers dont know the true story. Celebration of Valentine day today is mass hysteria. Without knowing the true story of valentine day, our youngsters are insulting great sacrifices of valentine. In India no need such a celebration.

It is interesting that even Iran has allowed the celebration of V-Day by the youth of Iran, though they were asked to call it by another name. So,if these people do not like the term Valentine, let them give another name but let the young people enjoy.

Agree about your observations regarding the attire of the demonstrators involved. It would be appropriate for them to display their love for indigenous culture by wearing 'l****oti' whenever they undertake such exercises against the Western culture

Jobless, semi-literate goons have no idea what's going on around them.. These scum bags are brainwashed, fed with Biryani and given a bottle of cheap whiskey.

    This is their "AUKAAD".

Failure of police to act or police has a soft corner towards these goondas. Press can reach those gundas and click the pictures of burning v.cards, why police can’t reach them. Did they pay for the cards they burned? Selling the v. cards in shops is legal and no one has right to confiscate and burn the cards. The culprits can be identified from the pictures published.
Whether the state is ruled by BJP or Congress, no change in the attitude of police men. Prior to the election, Congress promised that they will curb the moral policing, where are they now?
If same crime is happening again and again it is not a mistake it is the inefficiency of the police force or police force is also completely saffronised.

I wish to counter the argument raised by Rama Sena "why a particular day is dedicated to lovers or love". By the same token may I ask those heavy rusty heads why we have Christmas, Eid, Krisnastami, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturti celebrated on a particular day or days? why can't we celebrate these also on 365 days a year? Stupid arguments by these jobless problem makers.

What is Indian Culture? You Young People go home and take care of your parents and family. Work for life. Do not waste your life. You have been send to earth to do some God's will, not to do these Goons slavery. Happy Valentine Day

By the by who is this Valentine ? Ivanu yaara Maava athava Ajja ? Can somebody show his inclusion in the history of India ?

If he belong to some other country and if he had contributed lot to that country, then it is worth to celebrate his birthday.

Simply celebrating an unknown person to Indians is same as celebrating Birth Day of Siddarammayya at California.

Do you ask who is Jesus Christ ? Do you ask who is the Blessed Virgin Mary - Mother of Jesus ? Do you ask who is St.Joseph-Foster father of Jesus ? Do you ask which country they were from ? Do you ask whether they contributed to India ? Do you ask why many Indians follow them ?

    Shame on you !

Culture is not permanently anywhere in the world. Culture is constantly evolving. Everyone needs to embrace the 'good' in each other's culture. It only enriches us as human beings.

BTW, what is your problem if people want to celebrate Siddu's birthday in California or Canberra ?????????
