Kasargod: Illegal transport of sand seized in Hosadurga

Kasargod, Feb 15: Hosadurga police have seized a lorry illegally transporting sand in the name of onions.

The Lorry was plying from Mangalore to Tellicherry when it was seized at Kanangad south on Thursday afternoon, February 13.

The lorry driver had said that the lorry is loaded with 250 sacks of onions and showed a bill of Rs 96,000.  However when the police searched, they saw sand in it. The sand was covered with coconut shells at the top to prevent suspicion. The vehicle had passed through Manjeshwar check post.

Police have arrested Bantwal resident Mohammed Siyad(25) and Dharmastala resident Abdul Rehman(25), in this connection.
