Dubai: BCF Sports Festival sees enthusiastic participation

Dubai, Feb 16: Bearys Cultural Forum, UAE recently organized its annual Sports Festival 2014 as part of its 10th anniversary at the Gulf Medical University.
 
The sports event started in the morning with several tournaments such as cricket, football, volleyball and so on held throughout the day. After the Friday prayers, Janaza (funeral) prayer of the late Ullal Thangal and the mother--in-law of Dr Yusuf was held at the GMU Mosque.

Lunch was served at the GMU buffet area near the Body and Soul building. At 4 pm the event began with the felicitation function for U T Khadar, minister for health and family welfare and Thumbay Moideen, founder patron and founder president of Gulf Medical University. However, U T Khadar and Thumbay Moideen could not attend the event due to unavoidable circumstances.

Gulf Medical University's representatives namely Dr Mohd Arifulla, dean of admission of the Gulf Medical University and Farhad Moideen, director of hospitality division, Gulf Medical University attended this sports day felicitation function. Dr B K Yusuf, president of BCF also could not attend this function in view of the sad demise of his mother-in-law in Mangalore. M E Moolur officiated as the president of the BCF Sports Festival.

Mohammed Arifulla, dean, GMU, Abdussalam Puthige, chief editor, Vartha Bharati and M D Madhyamam Communications, Shaafi Saadi, member, Wakf Board, government of Karnataka, Afeez Saadi, president, SSF, Karnataka, M K Beary, president, DKSC, Mark Dennis, chief patron, Karnataka Sanga Sharjah, Aboosalih, Umer Farooque, former zilla panchayat member, South Kanara, T K Basheer, Mangalore Abubakar Sajpa, Satish Venkatakarama, Ganesh Rai, Satish Poojary, Sudhakar Alva, Anand Bailoor, Bala Salian, Abdul Majeed K A and also representatives from Al Qmar Welfare Association, Moideen Farhad, director, hospitality division, GMU, Sayed brahim, trustee, Green Valley School, Mohd Danjipady, chairman, Shameer Engineering were some of the guests who attended the event.

The cast and crew of Tulu film 'Nirel' were also present and spoke about their film.

The felicitation function was preceded by a march past by all the sportive people in a group comprising the participants. This sports march past was witnessed by the above distinguished delegates. The sports march past was led by Ibrahim Karnad. After the march past, the members paid respect with the UAE National Anthem.

The felicitation function started with Quran recitation which was conducted by Tanveer Razak. Dr Kaup compered the felicitation and prize distribution functions. Duff was led by the KCF group led by Rahim Kodi after which M B Akbar led a prayer song for the audience. Dr Kaup welcomed all the delegates and the audience. Abdul Latif Mulky gave an introduction to the BCF. M B Akbar read the message given by Dr Yusuf. M E Moolur delivered Presidential address. U T Khadar and Thumbay Moideen were awarded with the award of appreciation and commemoration and the award was handed over to their representatives.

A financial award was also presented to Afeez Saadi to the upcoming best sports personality of Mangalore and Udupi Districts. Saafi Saadi, Dr Arifulla and A S Puthege spoke on the occasion.

Dr B K Yusuf who could not attend the Sports Day in view of the demise of his mother in law-in Mangalore conveyed a message to all the people at the Sports day stating that he had full confidence in the sports committee and the members of the BCF and hoped that his absence would not be felt. Dr Yusuf conveyed his gratitude to Thumbay Moideen for his great support provided to the BCF for conducting this gala sports event. He also congratulated Saleem Althaf and his group for their dedicated work in conducting this sports event. He also requested everybody to pray for the departed soul of his mother in law.

M E Moolur, the officiating president offered condolence for the departed souls of Syedna Ullal Thangal and the mother in law of Dr B K Yusuf. He stated that that the values of humanity- mutual love, brother hood and Unity are the basic principles of BCF. He also thanked the BCF sports committee for their excellent job.

Dr Mohd Arifulla congratulated all the teams of various games and said that he is very happy to see the people of Karnataka State. He was delighted to see the coordinated efforts of all the sports men.

Shaafi Sadi praised BCF for their selfless service to the society. He emphasized on the value of social responsibility and cooperation and brotherhood. He wished every success to BCF.

Minister U T Khadar delivered a speech to the audience through voice call. He said that he could not attend the sports program in UAE in view of some urgent work at Mangalore. He also said that all the people should be together to make India a great nation. He also mentioned that he will visit UAE in another 10 days time to meet all the people of the Karnataka State.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ameeruddin S I. The raffle draw was won by Saman Sherif and Manal Kaup.

The committee was grateful to the sports committee comprising Saleem Althaf (chairman), Rafeeq Mulky, Razak Dewa, Gafoor, Nawaz Kotekar, Ibrahim Karnad, Ashraf Joikatte, Ashraf Sathikal, Kisar, Rehman Sajpa, Afeeq, Iqbal Mepha, Touseef, Ameerudin Medicari and Mumtaz. BCF also thanked all the ladies and gents wing members of the managing committee for their relentless effort in making this sports event successful. The BCF also thanked all the sponsors for providing us immense support for conducting this sports festival. The BCF also thanked Thumbay Moideen, founder patron of BCF and the founder president of GMU for providing their premises without which it was impossible for us to make this event successful. BCF also thanked Farhad Moideen, director of Hospitality Division, GMU, Hisham, Ayush, Imran, Salam and all the members of the GMU and Body and Soul for providing continuous hospitality and infrastructural services to the BCF in conducting this event.

After the felicitation function, the sports and games continued.
