Mangalore, May 24:
A state-level swimming competition organised by the Mangala Aquatic Club in collaboration with Mangala Swimming Club will be held in city from Sunday May 28 to Tuesday May 30 at the swimming pool managed by the city municipal corporation.

Addressing reporters here on Tuesday May 23 here, organising committee president Ravi Shetty informed that about 350 swimmers from various districts will participate. The competition is open to boys and girls below 17 years. The competition will be held at junior and sub-junior levels.

He further said that the contest will also be a selection for the national-level swimming championship to be held in Bangalore and Chennai in June. There will also be diving and water polo competitions which will be conducted in Bangalore, he said.

The competition will be inaugurated by former State Transport minister B Ramanath Rai and mayor K Ashraf will preside. MLA N Yogish Bhat corporators Shashidhar Hegde, Devanand Pai, Karnataka Swimming Association secretary Vijay Raghavan and entrepreneur Devanand  Shetty are expected to be present on the occasion.
