Kundapur: ‘Pratibha Saanj’ honours students, achievers

Kundapur, Feb 18: Catholic Sabha Kundapur Varado committee and Shevot Prathisttan Kundapur jointly organized a programme ‘Prathibha Saanj’ on Sunday February 16 at Rotary Laxmi Narashima Kala Mandir, Kundapur.

Catholic Sabha Kundapur Varado honored those who excelled in studies, elocution competition, and sports.

Catholic Sabha Kundapur Varado president Vinod Crasto presided over the function.

Chief guest Dr Roshan Pais honored 17 students who performed well in academics and speaking on the occasion, said, “Whatever help or recognition we get from society, we must render it back to society,” and added, “it’s a unique programme conducted by the Catholic Sabha to give encouragement to Catholic achievers.”

St Mary’s PU College principal Fr Praveen Martis inaugurated the programme and honoured the winners of the elocution completion conducted by the Varado committee.

On behalf of Catholic Sabha, Crasto handed over a cheque of Rs 3.5 lac to St Mary’s PU College and Rs 1 lac to legal aid committee collected from ‘Wilson Nite’ programme by the Kundapur Varado.

Another chief guest Adolfus Fernandes, executive officer, taluk panchayat, Kundapur, honoured Raison Rebello, Glevan D’Souza, and Mecline Lobo, who participated in national-level sports and games.

Elroy Kiran Crasto, president, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, honoured the office-bearers of Varado committee and president and secretary of each parish unit.

Prior to this function, a Konkani cultural programme was organized.

Alwyn Quadras, president of Shevot Prathisttan, Mabel D’Souza, convener of the programme, Precilla Menezes, immediate past ppresident, and Shanthi Pereira, secretary of Varado committee, were present on the dais.

Mable D’Souza welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was by Shanthi Periera.

Flyvan D’Souza and Renita Barnes compered the programme.
