Sharjah: Desert King lift New Mark T10 Cricket Trophy

Sharjah, Feb 18: Team Desert King put up a brilliant performance against Al Manal to win the New Mark T10 Cricket Tournament held at Hamriya Grass Ground, Sharjah, on Friday February 14.
The target in the finals was 128 runs in the allotted 10 overs, but Al Manal scored only 97 runs and Desert King won handsomely by 30 runs to lift the New Mark Trophy.
As many as 13 teams took part in the day-and-night tournament. The teams were Chilly Willy, Weststar Shipping, Abbas, Unicon, Desert King, Al Manal, Gourmet, Al Matar CC, Eagles, Al Futtaim, Transguard, Global Distribution and Stallions.
Earlier, the semi-finals were played between Unicon and Al Manal (winner - Al Manal) and between Desert King and Transguard (winner - Desert King ). The final match started at sharp 6 pm, and the closing ceremony along with prize distribution was held at 8 pm.
Atheeq of Desert King was declared the Man of the Series, Zakeer of Desert King the Man of the Match, Ayub of Al Manal the best batsman and Salman of Desert King was adjudged best bowler of the finals.
The tournament was inaugurated by Noel D’Almeida, event organizer of New Mark Cricket.
The beauty of the entire cricket tournament was the perfect support and cooperation from all the participating teams.
Yet another highlight of the grand tournament was the prize distribution ceremony where the finalists were given attractive trophies, medals and the prize money. A special feature of the tournament was some fine non-stop commentary by Rafeeq from Pakistan which kept the crowd entertained throughout the match.
