Bagalkot, Feb 19: In a head-on collision involving a truck and a car, four persons belonging to a family died on the spot, while a teenager and a small boy escaped with minor injuries. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday February 18 at Nagur Cross near Hungund in the district.

The family members had visited Bagalkot to visit a relative recuperating in a hospital there. The deceased have been identified as Dr Vijaya Mahantesha Shekharappa Sannashetra (36), his sister, Jayashree (38), Jayashree’s husband, Anilkumar Dundappa Saniknavar (45), and Manoj Doddabasavaraj Sannashetra (14), son of the brother of Dr Vijay Mahantesh.

Jayashree’s children, Prateek (16) and Aditya (6) mysteriously escaped with small nicks, cuts, and bruises. Both of them have been admitted into a private hospital in Bagalkot.

A report in this connection stands filed in Hungund police station and investigation has been undertaken.
