UEFA chief Platini visits Albania to support football education

Tirana (Albania), Feb 19 (IANS): UEFA president Michel Platini arrived here Wednesday to give the green light to new Albanian government programme on football as a separate subject in schools around the country.

The programme was presented over the past few months to integrate football into the Albanian education system and Platini has shown exclusive interest in pushing ahead with the initiative, reports Xinhua.

After being informed about the Albanian government initiative, Platini decided to visit Tirana to affirm the UEFA support in this field.

The idea has been developing for a long time and has already received the support of UEFA and FIFA, while a pilot project, jointly funded by UEFA and the Albanian Football Federation, is likely to be kicked off next year.
