Udupi: Two injured as car hits woman, bike

Udupi, Feb 20: A car plying to Udupi has hit a woman and a bike injuring two people.  The accident has occurred on National highways 66 on Wednesday afternoon at Kaup-Koppalangady.

The car which was overspeeding, has first hit a woman who was standing beside the road at Koppalangady, jumped over the divider in between the road and hit a bike plying towards Uchila.

The woman and the bike rider, Paniyur resident, Mulur jewellery shop worker Y Vijay Acharya were thrown to the road due to the impact and are seriously injured.

The car which jumped over the divider is completely damaged. The passengers in the car have escaped with minor injuries.  The injured are admitted to Kaup and Udupi private hospitals.

Traffic was disrupted for about half an hour after the accident. Kaup Police have rushed to the place and tried to regulate the traffic.
