Bellary: New block inaugurated at St Joseph’s Boys School

Bellary, Feb 20: A multi storey school building at St Joseph’s Boys School, Bellary was blessed by Bishop Henry D’ Souza and inaugurated by  Anirudh Sravan, IAS,  assistant commissioner, on February 16.

The first and second floors of the building were declared open by   CK Baba, additional superintendent of police and   Rama Devi, lawyer and social activist.

St Joseph’s Boys School, has a history of over a hundred years. It was started as ‘Christian Charity School’ around the year 1865 by Fr Patrick Doyle, a Mill Hill Missionary. It was meant for the poor children of the locality.

While appreciating the new block which is a land mark in the history of the school, Shravan applauded the harmony and values inculcated in the young minds focusing on their all round development.  

C K Baba lauded the quality education imparted by the Christian institutions and noted “The strong foundation laid at the school in everyone’s life transforms, liberates and empowers“ he said.

Ramadevi, a renowned lawyer appealed to the parents to inculcate deep sense of God in their children so that their minds are illuminated in true values in life.

In his message, the Bishop said, “Education is an environment created in order to transform individuals into empowered persons in the society. In a multi cultural and multi religious context of our country, education should enable them to love and respect rich diversity of our country.”

Bishop D’ Souza insisted the joint responsibility of the parents and teachers in the task of illuminating the young minds with the “fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom.”

Bishop also appreciated the hard work put in by the school management Fr Ivan Pinto, Fr Lourduraj and the school staff members, donors for the memorable gift for the people of Bellary.

Molly Parson,   Antoniamma and  Lourd Mary were honored for their long selfless service on the occasion.

School manager Fr Ivan Pinto thanked all the special invitees, the architect, contractor and others. Fr Lourduraj, assistant manager welcomed.

The school children presented a colourful and meaningful cultural program on the theme ‘Nuture our culture and secure the future’ on the occasion.
