Bangalore: BJP decides to field Shobha from Udupi, DVS from Mysore

Bangalore, Feb 21: BJP has succeeded in reaching an amicable settlement on the problem of issuing Lok Sabha tickets to three of its stalwarts, who had been insisting on a ticket from Bangalore (north) constituency.
The core committee of the BJP, which met at former minister, Ashok’s house on Thursday February 20, took this decision.

Former minister, R Ashok, former chief minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, and former minister, Shobha Karandlaje, had stuck to their stubborn demand for a ticket from Bangalore (north) constituency. It is said that prominence of Vokkaliga community among the voters of this constituency had influenced their decisions.

During the core committee meeting, there was a notable thaw in the stands owned by both Ashok and DVS, as both offered to abide by the party’s decision, in contrast to their earlier determination to fight from Bangalore (north) constituency, it is learnt.

After protracted efforts, BJP leadership has succeeded in convincing D V Sadananda Gowda, who had earlier been elected from Mangalore and Udupi-Chikmagalur constituencies once each, to fight the coming election from Mysore constituency.

Shobha Karandlaje has been chosen to fight the coming Lok Sabha election from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency on behalf of BJP. She would be up against Jayaprakash Hegde of Congress.

The revised list of 20 BJP candidates is as follows. Candidates for the remaining eight seats are yet to be finalized.

mr manohar everything you mentioned is right but in udupi-chikmaglur only two candidates have enormous cult personality.1:jp hegde 2:halady srinivas shetty.these two guys have shown that they can win independently without any support of party.udupi is a congress strong hold ever since it was created.mangalore has bjp tendencies but never in udupi .the guy who created base for bjp is halady srinivas shetty.dont think that he has base only in kundapur.he created base for bjp in byndoor,udupi,kaup and karkala.without him its difficult for bjp to rise again.

All Mangaloreans need to know that since the past several terms Mangalore has sent MP's like- Sadanand Gowda and Nalin Kateel who have performed badly and have failed to raise issues pertaining region and the nation in Lok Sabha.

Nalin has failed to represent the cross section of society and has shown an inclination towards right wing radical politics.

These MP's have been more or less 'YES MEN' who only do what their high command tells them to do and they don't care about the public once they have won.

Nalin Kumar doesn't deserve to represent progressive minded, peace loving and development conscious Mangaloreans.He was nowhere to be seen when there was turmoil and communal conflicts, immoral policing in Mangalore. He has a narrow vision and has no foresight.

Mangalorean must send this guy packing as BJP walas have taken us Mangaloreans for granted since 20 years.

Its time for a change!!

Yes she does. Shobha has worked with the community medicine department of KMC, Manipal after doing her MSW as a social worker. So she knows rural udupi better than you and me as it is a routine practice for community medicine people to go and visit all the primary health centers in and around Udupi. She was in KMC till 1996 before she joined for active politics. I wish her all the very best.

The Udupi LS constituency seat is decided on Haladi srivas shetty's decision & support by whom he will support because here 2=CONGRESS MLA ,1=BJP MLA 1=INDEPENDENT (Haladi srinivas shetty)if haladi supports bjp then there will be neck to neck fight between cong& bjp.bcuse halidi won last election by a huge margin(main haladi factor)

This is a very good decision of BJP to field Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi instaed of DVS.JP Hegde is also a better candidate from Congress compared to its other many leaders but Shobha inspite of criticisms against her,it appears she holds the key in Udupi-Chikmanagur constituency in view of her acquintance with ground level workers here when she was active in Sangh Parivar.
By electing Shobha, Udupi can expect development at a higher rate.
