Bangalore: Police atrocity on foreign tourists: KSHRC takes suo motu cognisance

Bangalore, Feb 22 (PTI): Karnataka State Human Rights Commission yesterday took suo motu cognisance of the alleged police atrocities on foreign tourists a night after Valentine’s Day in the district.

“We have taken a suo motu cognisance of the alleged police atrocities on foreign tourists a night after Valentine’s Day, KSHRC member C G Hunugund told reporters here.

The tourists also have submitted a petition to Karwar Superintendent of Police R Dilip complaining about the atrocities by his officials at Kudle beach in the Uttara Kannada district.

The foreigners along with two Indians had gathered in a forest area near Kudle beach to participate in an event. They complained that police inspector Santosh Kaikini and some others approached them and demanded money, Dilip told PTI here.

When they resisted to give in to their demand, the police started to assault them inflicting severe injuries to some, he said.

Giving the police version, Dilip said Kaikini and his team reached the site around 4 am and found a group of 40 foreign tourists along with a couple of Indians partying in a drunken state.

Dilip said the police had information that an Indian was supplying charas and when police tried to nab him, the foreigners obstructed the police from performing their duty.

“We have successfully nabbed Hari Lulla (35) and have booked a case against him. He claims to be a dealer in Ayurvedic oils. “We have let off foreigners with a warning,” he said.

“Some of our policemen including a woman officer has been injured in the scuffle, though not severely. This led to police resorting to lathicharge, in which some of them were injured,” Dilip said.

Foreigners are now flocking to Karwar and Gokarna after Goa govt has become very strict in dealing with Foreign Nationals for Drug abuse. Even in Murudeshwara drug abuse is rampant. Karnataka Police & local politicians seem to be hand in Gloves with Drug mafia of Mumbai. The human right commission should also investigate the matter from this angle too.

India is slowly slowly becoming another Taliban state because of Saffron groups. It is very necessary to impose Dubai rule in India to stop the moral policing in the name for religion & Indian culture.
