Udupi, May 27: The Bajrang Dal activists on Wednesday May 25, brutally assaulted a cattle-trader Krishnayya Patali at his house at Saligrama near here.  The latter succumbed to injuries on Friday May 26 morning, at the KMC Hospital.

Patali (68), was dragged out of his house by a group of Bajrang Dal activists, who hit him with iron rods and fled the place in a van.

Based on a statement given by Patali before his death, the Kota police arrested Kumaraswamy and Siri Shanubhag, who were involved in the assault which led to the victim's death. They were produced before the court and have been remanded to judicial custody.

The public have planned a protest to reprimand the killing of Patali.

Kumaraswamy is the district co-convener of Bajrang Dal.
