Bangalore, May 27: The National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC) organized summer residential/non-residential courses in Indian art formsas a new step in its mission of inculturation.

The objectives of the course are -

To educate people to appreciate the Indian classical & folk arts and their relevance in everyday life and in worship of the Creator.

To spread the 'good news' through the medium of dance and music.

The course is conducted for 3 weeks each in three summers. Various Adavus, Tala, Shloka along with  prayer dance, bible dance, welcome dance, folk dance and stage dance are being taught. Various music scales, ragas and their theory are also a part of the program along with popular songs for different occasions in both English and Hindi.

NBCLC held its valedictory function on Friday, May 26 to felicitate the students who attained grades in Keyboard playing, Music, Indian Classic and Folk Dance.

NBCLC director Fr Thomas D'Sa in his address appreciated the talents in little children and said "the more mistakes they make, the more happy we should be, in the interest of perfection."

In his speech, Doodarshan director Mahesh Joshi as chief guest praised NBCLC for their efficient organization of all these different courses. He congratulated both students and teachers and distributed the certificates to all those who successfully completed the course. Former NBCLC director Paul was the guest of honour.

Fr D'Sa falicitated the Director of DD for his dedicated work and congratulated him on his elevation as the adviser to chief minister of the state.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Fr R K Samy.
