Puttur, May 27: A government bus, on its way to Uppinangadi Patrame, collided with a tanker lorry at Karbasanka, Nellyady near here, on Friday May 26, seriously injuring the lorry driver along with 24 other bus passengers.
The driver of the bus was trapped inside the vehicle that the nearby residents after putting in all their efforts, had to finally call for a JCB machine to extricate him.. The injured were rushed by emergency vehicles to hospitals in Mangalore city.
Traffic on the said route was blocked for more than an hour following the accident.
Uppinangadi sub-inspector R Ramesh and assistant station house officer Babu Gowda visited the spot.
Those injured are mostly from Nellyadi, Kokkada and Patrame areas.
