Udupi: Annual sports day conducted at SMVITM, Bantakal

Udupi, Feb 23: The fourth annual sports day of Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal was conducted on February 22 in the Institute premises.

The chief guest, Ashok Shetty, DGM, ASPEN Infrastructure, Padubidri, marked the opening of the event by hoisting the Institute flag.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Shetty expressed his happiness on the achievements of the Institute and the students in a short span of time since the inception of the college three years back.

He praised the managements’ efforts in providing quality technical education in the rural area and also making the best efforts in providing latest state-of-the-art infrastructure to the students along with inculcating discipline amongst the students.

Presiding over the function, Prof Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, principal of SMVITM, assured the students of the best possible help and co-operation for participating in various extracurricular & sports activities and also chalked out his plans for extending the sports facilities in the campus.

Rathnakumar, secretary of  Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi, Dean (Acdemics) Prof Dr A Ganesha, Physical Education Director Prashanth M D, various Heads’ of Departments’ were present on the occasion. The programme commenced with the invocation by Preetham Adiga and Nihal Shetty welcomed the gathering.

Shilpa introduced the chief guest while student sports secretary Kishore read out the sports oath to the participants. Lady Sports Secretary Raksha Bhat thanked all those responsible for the success of the event. The programme was compered by Vignesh Bhat.

Various sports events followed the inaugural session till the end of the day. Medals and prizes for the winners of various competitions were distributed by the president of the Governing Council, Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji.
