Kundapur: Verbal altercation leads to assault at Trasi

Kundapur, Feb 24: A verbal altercation that erupted between a motor bike rider and driver of a tipper truck resulted in the roughing up of the bike rider. This gave rise to tense situation in Trasi and nearby Gangolli town on Sunday evening, necessitating tightening of security.

Reportedly, Hanif from Holy Cross near Trasi in the taluk was moving towards Trasi petrol bunk from Gangolli with his wife, Naseema, when a tipper truck came in contact with his two-wheeler. Both the bike-borne persons were pushed to the road as a result, after which Hanif took the tipper driver to task for the latter’s negligence.

At that time, several motor bike-borne youth, who were taking part in a bike raly to Gangolli from Trasi as part of a meeting organized at Gangolli by Hindu Jagran Vedike, came to the spot. They reportedly assaulted Hanif. Naseema, who tried to intervene, also faced their fury, it is learnt. 

Following the incident, Gangolli unit of Popular Front of India asked circle inspector, P M Diwakar, to arrest the culprits immediately. As the incident coincided with the meeting of Hindu Jagran Vedike at Gangolli, situation turned tense. District armed police contingent has been deployed all over Gangolli. The situation is being supervised by circle inspector, P M Diwakar, station house officer of Shankarnarayana, Dejappa, Amasebail sub-inspector, Nasir Hussain, Kundapur assistant sub-inspector, Sudha Prabhu, and others.

    It was not at all necessary for HJV guys to interfere in this matter as the two involved in the accident would have solved the matter between them with the help of police.
    Due to their interference it has taken a new twist. First of all they were not at the spot when the accident happened and did not have the first hand knowledge who was right who was wrong. It was just because the biker was Mr. Hanif!!!!
    These groups always unnecessarily poke their nose where they should not and create unrest.
    These types of groups are the main reason for various problems in the coastal areas. They should be curbed by the law authorities.
