Youth Dies on Road

Kundapur: In a gruesome accident that took place at Kambadakone, Byndoor on Friday 10 pm, a youth died on spot. Ganapa (28) a resident of Galimane Kambadakone was hit by an unidentified motor vehicle.

Three Seriously Injured

Puttur: Three persons have been reported to be seriously injured in a road accident at Konalu in NH No 48. Over 15 persons were injured when a KSRTC bus, tanker and a truck bumped into each other. The KSRTC bus was on its way to Patrame from Uppinangady.

Youth Falls off Tree

Kundapur: A person was injured when he fell down from a coconut tree at Harkoor,near Aloor on Friday. He was admitted to Manipal hospital. Karunakar (25) son of Manju Ganiga, climbed the tree to pluck tender coconuts but lost control and fell down.

Unabated Gum Theft

Sullia: Unabated theft of frankincense has been reported in Yenekal reserve forest here. Gum from the trees planted by the Forest Department 30 years ago is being pilfered and has caused losses to the tune of crores of rupees to the government.

Yenekal reserve forest expands from Nalkoor area till Kamila, in midst of Subrahmanya, Guttigar and Yenekal village, which comes under the purview of Panja range of reserve forest.

The locals have complained that the concerned officials have not been taking action to check the thefts.

Man reported missing

Ullal: Lakshman Nayak (80) of Somanath Uliya of Munnur village who reportedly left his house for his daughter Shashikala's house in Bajal has neither reache there nor returned home since May 21.

He stands 5'8" high. Anyone knowing his whereabouts is requested to contact the Ullal police station.

Pile-up of vehicles at Baikady

Brahmavar: An oil tanker from Udupi hit an iron-ore-laden truck and a private bus one after the other near the Baikadi bus stand on Saturday, and then fell into a gorge. Brake failure and loss of driver's control over the vehicle is said to be the cause of the accident. No one was injured, said the Brahmavar police.

Death by fall into ditch

Subrahmanya: Chandrashekhar (25) of Arugudi near Adisubrahmanya died of a fall from a footbridge into a ditch full of water while returning home. He was the son of the late Guddappa Male. The Subrahmanya police have registered a case.
