Mangalore, May 29: At the State-level junior and sub junior level swimming championship being conducted by Mangalore Aquatic and Mangala Swimming clubs at MCC Swimming Pool on Sunday, Aron D'Souza of Basavanagudi Aquatic Club created national records in 800 and 200 mts free stroke categories.

  

Swimmers from across the State created a total of 7 records on the first day of the championship.

The existing national records are of Sheraz (9.02.61) from Karnataka in 800 mts free stroke section and of Virohaval from Maharashtra in the 200mts free stroke division.

The championship was inaugurated by former minister B Ramanath Rai. Mangalore MLA N Yogish Bhat, mayor K Ashraf, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde and corporator Devanand Pai were also present on the occasion.
