Bantwal, Feb 28: A peace meeting held on Thursday February 27 at the police station in the presence of DYSP Rashmi Paradi in view of several religious programmes such as Hindu sangama and fair has led to arguments between people who attended it.

Some of the important people who were in the meeting complained that the improper way of parking auto rikshaws and tourist cars in BC Road, causes inconvenience to the commuters and requested for action.  DYSP Rashmi asked sub inspector Sanjay Kumar to take action.

As discussion on provocative banners was in progress, Bantwal municipal council member Monish Ali and Zakaria asked not to allow RSS leader Dr Prabhakar Bhat to give provocative speech in the Hindu Sangama programme to be held on March 2 in BC Road.

At this juncture, BJP leaders Purusha N Salian, Charan Jumadigudde, Bharath, Ramesh Shenoy BC Road, Mahabala Shetty, Parameshwara Aithal etc objected for taking the name of Dr Prabhakar Bhat in the meeting. At that time there were arguments between the two communities in the presence of DYSP.

The DYSP who intervened said that the people have not been called to argue.  “We will not listen to what you say.  The police department will take suitable legal action during untoward incidents.  You have been called here to warn you to avoid unpleasant incidents and to suggest solutions to some of the problems”, she said.

She warned them to speak after knowing the repercussions and went out from the meeting.  SI Sanjay Kumar continued the meeting and concluded it.
