Puttur: Threat of suicide from woman sends police into tizzy

Puttur, Feb 28: A distress call from woman sent police on a wild goose chase in the middle of the night. The call ultimately turned out to be a hoax.

The district police control room and also the office of the inspector general of police (western range) had on Wednesday February 26 night received a frantic call from a woman. She told the police that her lover had ditched her. She said she was inside a famous textile store in the town, and was on the verge of ending her life by consuming poison.

As soon as the call was received, the concerned contacted the town police station here and asked them to check out the facts and take steps to save the distressed lady.

Deputy superintendent of police, H D Mendonca, immediately responded to the situation by calling the owners of a well-known textiles shop in the town and getting both the shops owned by him opened immediately. A thorough search of both the establishments did not yield anything, and the complaint proved to be false.

The police were driven by the zeal to save a woman, and therefore, had to rush to the shops and conduct search operation for about an hour from 12 am to 1 am on Thursday. At the end, it proved to be a hoax call, perhaps made by pranksters. However, the caller remains untraced, and it would be interesting if the police personnel are able to catch up with her and unearth the whole story.

Usually when a call Comes to Police Station for help,it should be registered automatically from which phone or place it came so that they can identify later .Dont they have such arrangements?when not high time to do so.Because in the future they can identify in case of murder or emergencies. If caught the Person who made this prank call should be punished severely.

If she was as 'ravishing' as shown in the picture here, I would have rushed immediately and..... There would have been the immediate successful result. My success rate is 'high' in such cases.
By the way it's a woman's 'secret lethal weapon' this suicide bid'!
Many men in this forum would know! They, however would hesitate to confess! What say Langoola??

Such woman should be caught to teach them a lesson. Why she called at mid night? She is foolish woman. Police should have asked to wait till morning and requested her to drink tea or beer till morning instead of poison.
