Sullia: Bus intercepted, passenger robbed of Rs 4 lac

Sullia, Feb 28: A gang of miscreants, who intercepted a bus belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation at Odabai here on the night of Wednesday February 26, decamped after pulling a passenger out of the bus, and robbing four lac rupees from his possession.

The bus in question was moving towards Bangalore from Mangalore via Mysore. The incident occurred at around 11 pm. A gang which arrived at Odabai in two Maruti Omni vehicles and a Scorpio stopped the Volvo bus there. They dragged Kabir (24), working for an areca nut dealer from Gandhinagar here,  before attacking him, and forcibly taking away cash amounting to four lac rupees found in his possession.

It is learnt that Kabir had boarded the bus at Mangalore with cash, and he was robbed a short distance before reaching bus stand here. Kabir got admitted into a private hospital in Puttur, and complained to the police.

Kabir has named Guru Dixit, Chidanand, Mani, Ashit, and some others, who are said to be activists of pro-Hindu organizations, in his complaint. The police have begun an investigation into the incident.
