Mangalore, May 30: Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by gusty wind continued to lash Dakshina Kannada for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, May 29.

Ashok G Bhat, headquarter's assistant to the Deputy Commissioner said that seven houses had been damaged in Ullal owing to sea erosion.

The affected families had been rehabilitated in a nearby government school.

The revenue authorities had opened a gruel centre for the affected persons, he said.

According to preliminary reports,  Bhat said, 30 "pucca" and 17 "kachcha" houses had been partially damaged in the district owing to heavy rain.

According to official sources, Bantwal received 158.2 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours ending 8 am on Monday. Beltangady recorded 157. 2 mm rain, Puttur 116 mm, Sullia 114.4 mm, Uppinangady 85 mm and Mangalore 69.4 mm.  The Bajpe airport recorded 122 mm rainfall during the period.
