Karkala: Malini death – fourth accused taken into custody

Karkala, Mar 3: Relating to the unnatural death of Malini, wife of Ashok Jain from Shirlalu village in the taluk on February 20 at her husband’s home, the Ajekar police arrested Jyoti, the fourth accused on Sunday March 2.

Malini had consumed poison allegedly on account of certain differences with her husband. However, Malini’s parents had stated this to be a case of murder, and alleged mental and physical torture by her husband and parents.

Jyoti, a friend of Ashok Jain, who reportedly visited Ashok Jain’s house a day prior to Malini’s death, had a verbal fight with Malini, it is learnt. After Malini’s death, Jyoti had gone missing. She was taken into custody from Tumkur.

Ashok and his parents had been arrested earlier in this respect, and all of them are in judicial custody.
