Mangalore, Mar 4: The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) over the last 100 years has worked towards fulfilling the objectives that includes promoting educational, economic, cultural, social and general welfare of the community with special reference to women.
In order to channelize the energies of our youth and transforms them into responsible citizens and good human beings and with a view to direct the present generation into the mainstream by harnessing their energies in the right path, the organization celebrated International Women’s’ Day at St Ann’s College of Education, Mangalore on March 4 at 9:30am .
As an organization CASK has rendered assistance to underprivileged and vulnerable groups of society, irrespective of religion, caste, creed or any other distinction; and act as the voice of the community in upholding its rights and privileges.
The Programme began with a prayer song led by the B Ed Students followed by a formal welcome by Patsy Lobo, teacher trainer of Teacher Foundation, CASK.
Captain John Prasad Menezes, the secretary of Cask addressed the gathering and in his talk spoke on the thoughts to increase awareness about women health issues that usually remain the last in the list of priorities in a family. The programme sequenced PowerPoint Presentations on Women of Strength and a quiz on great women of India. The programme also highlighted the importance of Empowering Women and bringing more equality to humankind balances the strengths and weaknesses of men and women to complement each other.
The students were divided into groups of ten each and a symposium that focused on the topics such as women and discipline, women as leaders, women as entrepreneurs, women as social activists, educationalists and women and family was conducted.
The students were vibrant in expressing their views and suggestions to the topics and the discussions made the students frame an outlook about how as teachers they can impart women education to society. A total of 150 members along with the members of CASK team were present.
Sushma Kautilya compered the programme and Doreena Correa proposed vote of thanks.
