Report by Viju Mangalore – pics by Dayanand Kukkaje

Mangalore, May 31: Showers of blessings from above became a curse to the beauty spot of Mangalore - Kadri Park. The heavy rains of Tuesday inundated the park with knee-deep water.

It was not long that the Kadri Park was clad in green by the neatly laid lawn at a cost of Rs 7.3 lac. Tuesday’s rains however played a spoilsport. Mindless development has shown its ugly face again.

The park management had also made several infrastructure developments including broadening the pavements, building enclosures etc.. but failed to provide rainwater outlets.

The result was seen on Tuesday when the entire park was flooded with rainwater.

It has been proposed to set up a dancing fountain like the one in KRS Mysore here in the park. But these rains have proved that water sports would have been better played than enjoying a dancing fountain!

Incidentally, since the children's train is out of function, a pleasure boating service may not be out of place.
