Kasargod, Mar 5: The annual 'Nemotsava' of Pilichamundi Raktheshwri and Parivara Daivas of the Enmakaje Beedina Mane was held with much fanfare and grandeur here on Tuesday March 4. The Nemotsava is held every year as part of the five-day religious festivities at the Enmakaje Beedina Mane near Perla here.

Thousands of people witnessed the Pilichamundi Daiva Nemotsava and took part in the festivities.

The Pilichamundi Daiva Nema was performed on March 3, followed by 'Satyadevata Korati Guliga Nemotsava' in the evening. Raktheshwari Daiva Nema was performed on Tuesday March 4 morning.

Enmakaje Mane (house), which has a history of over 450 years, is known for its ‘Bhoota Kola' (spirit worship). Among the nine Bhootas worshipped by the family are the head Bhoota (Rajan) or Pilichamundi, followed by Gulige, Sathyadevatha, Korathi, Posa Bhoota, Chalena Bhoota, and Rakhtheswari Bhoota.

Nemotsava became an annual event in 2004, when the temple, which was destroyed in a fire in 1994, was reconstructed. The Nemotsava is performed in  the first week of March every year. The present 'yejamane' (family head) is Enmakaje Vishwanath Rai who represents the entire clan at all functions and religious ceremonies. During the course of the five-day event, meals and refreshments are served to the guests and locals.

Cultural programmes including recital of devotional songs were also part of the five-day event. Prominent member of the Enmakaje Mane Sudhir Shetty, COO of UAE Exchange and others were present.

The Nemotsava was witnessed by a large number of villagers and people from surrounding places.
