Dense fog blankets Dubai, Sharjah; commuters struggle
Dubai, Mar 6 (Emirates 24|7): Residents of Dubai and Sharjah woke up to foggy conditions on Thursday morning.
A thick blanket of fog has spread over the two emirates and early morning commuters had to encounter dense pockets of fog in Dubai and Sharjah as they made their way to work.
According to a motorist, the visibility on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road is poor (at 7:30am) and it is not more than 200-250 metres.
The official weather forecaster, NCMS, there was a possibility of 'increase in relative humidity during night and early morning over some of coastal areas, with a chance of some mist/fog formation'.
Dubai Police and RTA cautioned motorists to drive carefully as visibility is suddenly reduced in such conditions.
Those travelling on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Ain Road reported dense fog in the area in the morning. Residents of Silicon Oasis also said that visibility was extremely poor due to foggy conditions.
NCMS predicts fair to partial cloudy conditions on Thursday. Scattered low clouds are likely to appear over eastern mountainous areas by afternoon.
The weather will be mild during day times and relatively cold by night.
Temperatures will tend to increase gradually especially to the west.
Sea will be slight to moderate in general.
The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over some of the coastal areas.
