Mangalore, Mar 6: Alleging that police inspector Nataraj, who heads Suratkal police station, has been ineffective, Kulai unit of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organized a protest meeting at Vidyanagar Junction in Kulai on Tuesday March 4. They said that the station house officer has failed to make any breakthrough in investigations relating to the murder of Sumathi Prabhu, murder attempt on Sudarshan etc in Kulai and Hosabettu villages.
They said that the policemen have failed to nab the culprits involved with these and other criminal incidents, and that they have not been able to check criminal activities. The police have failed to maintain law and order in the area, the protestors complained.
Addressing the gathering, district president of DYFI, Muneer Katipalla, accused Suratkal police of failing even to arrest petty thieves. He questioned the very purpose having this police station, in view of the fact that it has grossly failed in every aspect.
City corporators, Purushottam Chitrapur and Dayanand Shetty, and retired officer of excise department, Yogeesh Attavar, addressed the gatering. A number of leaders from the area besides leaders of different organizations were present.
