Bantwal: Tanker carrying fly ash tumbles near Thumbay

Bantwal, Mar 6: A tanker loaded with fly ash from Udupi Power Corporation Ltd near Padubidri, that was headed towards Bangalore, tumbled at the steep bend at Thumbay near here on Wednesday March 5.

While negotiating the bend, the driver lost control over the vehicle, after which the capsule in the trailer portion of the tanker got separated and fell on the other side of the road divider, eyewitnesses said.

The accident reminded the people of a tragedy witnessed in the region sometime back, but they heaved a sigh of relief after knowing that the tanker was loaded with fly ash. The police visited the spot and took measures to ease the traffic by moving the tanker away.
