Udupi, Mar 6: The fourth annual day of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi was celebrated with a grand event on Wednesday March 5 at the college campus.

Inaugurating the event, Ramesh Pathak, vice-president (R&D), Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, said that every individual should be aware of his or her personal, professional and social responsibilities and should fulfill each of these responsibilities in the best possible way.

He also said that innovations made in the field of technology should be sustainable in the long run and every generation has an obligation to the succeeding generations as far as sustainability of the natural resources are concerned.

The ability to communicate complex ideas in simplified ways is the key to be absorbed by the job market in the present day world of information explosion, he said.

"An engineer should aim at overall development of personality, be it his personal, professional or social life," said Prof Ramesh Pathak in his address.

"We have to work towards reaching goals. We have to make sure that we are not fooling ourselves. Finding a solution for any problem is the work of an engineer and we have to be sincere in our professional field. Currently, students are blessed with  good colleges that provide the best of education. But many people do not get a chance to enter these colleges," he added.

"We have to save our resources for the next generation. Once we get into the job market we will be required to find answers, but bo one will kill us if we gives wrong answers, rather it will help us to improve ourselves. Sustainability is vital in the current business market. We will llearn to value ourselves only when we lead a simple life," he said.

Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Shree Sode Vadiraja Math, Udupi, who is also the president of Shri Sode Vadiraja Math Education Trust, presiding over the function opined that just as one needed to have a body and soul for an existence, both material knowledge and philosophical knowledge were essential for the harmonious development of individuals. He further said that the college was established with the objective of providing quality technical education, along with opportunities for developing aesthetic and creative talents and skills in physical activities like sports and games, to rural students.

Scholarships, best outgoing student awards and academic proficiency prizes instituted by various philanthropists, individuals and organizations were awarded to the recipients on the occasion.

Principal of the institute, Prof Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal presented the annual report for the year 2013 –’14.  Ratnakumar, secretary  Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi welcomed the gathering. Prof Dr Ganesha A, dean (Academics), Rahul Kotian and Pradyumna Acharya, the president and the secretary of the SMVITM student council were also present. 

The programme commenced with a prayer by Usha H and was compered by Anitha Pillai, Bhavya and Nikhil Acharya. The formal function was followed by various variety entertainment programmes by the students.

Prof Raviprabha, student welfare officer proposed the vote of thanks. Benny Mathews introduced the chief guests to the gathering.

    It's a new Technology institute at Bhantakal, Udupi area. Mostly students used to go to Konaje & Polytechnic in Managlore. Good news for Bhantakal & Udupi area students.
