Bangalore, Jun 2: Mango Mela, a festival of mangoes, is being held in Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, Bangalore from May 28 up to June 4. This is one of the prime events of Lalbagh.

Lots and lots of varieties of mangoes were on sale right from organically grown yield to the exotic. You name any, they were available, to name a few,Alphonso, Banganpalli, Malgoa, Sindhuri, Raspuri, Mallika, Totapuri, Ratnagiri, Kalapad, Romani etc.

Even people from outside Bangalore make it a point to attend this event. As the place is very cool, calm and full of shade, people have an outing to this place for relaxation.

The Horticulture Department organized this Mela.  The aim was to bring in the growers, i.e. farmers, in direct contact with the buyers.  This project is to assist the farmers to get a better price, while thebuyers benefited by getting fresh fruits from the farms.

The Department tried to accommodate all the farmers who applied for stalls, resulting in setting up 38 stalls.
