Mangalore, Jun 2: Hemant Kumar of Canara P U College here has made DK district proud with his excellent performance in the PU examinations held recently.

Hemant stood first in DK and in Udupi districts in the Science stream. He scored 501 marks (Physics and Mathematics 100 each, Chemistry and Biology 96 each, English 92 and Sanskrit 97). Hemant is also a student of Expert Coaching classes. He has secured 161 rank in the AIEEE.

A talented youth, Hemant’s victory in the international Terra Quiz made news a couple of years back. He is one of the six all India winners of India- France Quiz 2004. His team annexed Rs 1 lac worth international quiz Kanrnapex 2003. He has also won several gold medals at KVS national sports meets in swimming, the last being three gold medals in 2003 held at New Delhi

Hemant is the son of Vasudha and Vasanth Kumar Rao, senior manager in Canara bank and aspires to be a doctor.
