Udupi, Mar 9: In a tragic turn of events, the five-year-old boy from Pamboor who went missing all of a sudden about a fortnight ago was found dead on Sunday March 9.

Naveen, son of Nagaraj and Asha of Tamil Nadu, residents of Dharmashree Colony in Pamboor near Padubelle, Kaup went missing on February 23.

On March 9, Naveen's skeletal remains were found some distance away from Dharmashree Colony during a search operation. His skull and bones were found on a hillock.

On February 23, Naveen was seen playing in the courtyard of his home, just before he went missing. He had told the family that he was going to visit the house of his maternal uncle in the neighbourhood, but did not return home.

For the last 15 days, the police, locals and family members have been searching for Naveen but he was nowhere to be found.

On Sunday morning, a person by name Swaminathan went to the hillock to relieve himself, when he spotted a skull. He immediately alerted the residents of Dharmashree Colony, who in turn informed the police.

Bones were found near the skull, along with the deceased boy's footwear and clothes.

Police team led by ASP Annamalai rushed to the spot along with fingerprint experts and a canine squad. As per the request of police, doctors from KMC hospital, Manipal also came to the spot.

District incharge minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah, ASP Santhosh Kumar, Kaup circle inspector Sunil Naik, DCIB police inspector Praveen Nayak, Shirva SI Ashok, Kaup SI Rajendra Naik and other officials came to the spot and conducted investigations.

Shirva police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.

Police must have picked up clothes and sandals from bones (in bushes) and kept it on the rock to take a picture...where is question of removing clothes,,, when just bones are found???

This Vamachara stories I hear for last many years ,,, 90 percent of it happens to be false...even if it happens it unlikely to happen in DK...

Anyway, I wont comment any more on this...let Police investigate and find answers and parents of this poor child will know what exactly happened to their child...

I think these speculations will add more pain to these poor parents...

I am absolutely confident nobody will murder this 5 year old poor labourer's child without any reason...

In murder always there should be a motive...except terrorism...there is no evidence of terrorism here...only logical conclusion here,,, it could be accidental death like snake bite...wild animal attack...which is quite common in this area. I am surprised failure of people not being able to find body earlier...now with just bones found I have serious doubts if forensics will able to find cause of death.

For the sure truth will come out and you will shut up after that...you talk as if you are an eye witness to the murder...

This all about RULE of LAW and ORDER, why these things are not happening in GULF or any foreign countries?
Just because Law is supreme and fear of law among the citizens.
This may be well planned.. well organized, and well calculated handy work of within victims province..

I agree with Mr. Rodrigues, but hope it is not so. In case it is so, people need to take care of small children, who are physically very weak and cannot fight the evil adult world by themselves. It is the duty of parents, guardians and neighbors and society to protect the children and keep a vigilant view from antisocial elements.

Since it is not a well populated area with no wild animals and the kid in question, from a poor family, gone missing during daytime, primafacie it appears to be the handiwork of some people indulging in occult practices, which is rampant in rural areas!!!

Pray the child's soul rest in peace, the parents get the strength to overcome this tragedy!!

Indeed needs a Stringent law Framework. Now Count on Shariah based law of Saudi,"Eye for an Eye".The Same way the Culprit should be brought to Punishment, the way boy was killed. Will any inhuman Terrorist would dare to do this kind of heinous act again? My heart bleeds for this 5 year old young kid.
