Mangalore, Jun 3: The Panambur highway patrol squad and Kavoor police have been successful in nabbing the alleged killer of NCC gazetted assistant Mohammed Samiullah, who was found murdered in his quarters at Bondel on the morning of June 1.
Ansar (19) alias Kunhi Monu
The accused, Ansar alias Kunhi Monu (19) of Kasba Bengre near here, was arrested by Panambur circle inspector Kodandaram in Farangipet in Bantwal taluk. As there were no clues were available at the spot of the murder, it was a tough job on hand for the police to track down the culprit.
Background:
The deceased Samiullah, before moving into the official quarters at Bondel, lived in Kasba Bengre, where he got acquainted with Ansar, who, later, often visited Samiullah at Bondel. On the night before the killings, both had gone to the Bondel quarters. As Ansar was trying to return home to Kasba Bengre, Samiullah is said to have pressed him to stay overnight since it was raining heavily.
Ansar agreed and stayed there. According to the statement of the accused, Samiullah made physical advances towards Ansarin the night, which Ansar resisted. A verbal exchange followed and Samiullah took out a knife to attack Ansar. The latter got injured on his hand in an attempt to escape. Eventually, Ansar happened to stab Samiullah several times, which resulted in his severe bleeding and death.
The Kavoor police have registered a case and investigations are in progress under the guidance of Panambur DySP Mitra Heraje.
