Udupi: Women’s day celebrated at Mahila Nilaya

Udupi, Mar 11: Mahila Nilaya, run by the department of women and children’s welfare at Nittur celebrated Women’s day under the aegis of Giants group on Tuesday, March 10.

Several programmes were held as part of the celebrations.  Bailur Vasudeva Kripa school children presented Janapada dance, Mimicri, songs and Bharathanatya during the beginning of the programme. Women’s hostel members presented dance and songs.

Hostel Superintendant Kusuma Nayak gave information on Women’s rights and protection.  Chidananda Pai, director of Giants unit conveyed his best wishes. A water pipe roll was given away by Giants unit to the Mahila Nilaya on their request. Prasad Salian and Vincent Saldanha, members of the association appreciated the kind gesture.

An entertainment programme was held by the teachers of Bailur’s Vasudeva Kripa School.

The association distributed fruits to the members of Mahila Nilaya. Giants group president Devadas Kamath, secretary Ganesh Ural, Chidananda Pai, Kusuma Nayak, Chandrakala Kamath and members of the Mahila Nilaya were present.

Devadas Kamath welcomed the gathering.  Ganesh Ural proposed vote of thanks. Rekha Pai compered the programme.
