Kundapur, Mar 11: "It is difficult for people in the rural areas to go to distant cities for medical checkups.  In the circumstances, it is praiseworthy that the local groups are conducting health camps here under the leadership of expert doctors of cities and taking interest to maintain the health of the people", said M Ramakrishna Pai Mullikatte, businessman.

He was speaking after inaugurating a free heart, lungs and bones checkup camp held at the premises of Gangolli's Saraswathi Vidyalaya pre university college on Sunday, March 9.  The camp was held as part of fourteenth anniversary celebrations of Karavali Youth Club, Dakuhitlu under the aegis of G Shankera Family Trust, Udupi and Mogaveera Youth Club, Udupi with the cooperation of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

Trasi Gangolli Lions Club president Dr George D' Almeida presided over the programme.  Gangolli grama panchayat president Reshma R Kharvi and Udupi district Mogaveera youth association vice president Ganesh Kanchan conveyed his best wishes.

Kasturba hospital specialist doctors Dr Ranjan Shetty, Dr Ashwini Kumar Mohapatra, Dr Shama Sunder Bhat and blood donor Nagaraja Kharvi Kundapur were felicitated on the occasion.  Karavali youth club president K Surya Kharvi was present.
