Kundapur: Pedestrian killed by heavy truck

Kundapur, Mar 12: A person hit by a 407 vehicle when he was crossing the road has succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital here.

The deceased is identified as Halavalli Kinara beach resident Shaikh Anwar(37).

Shaikh Anwar who was a welding supervisor was crossing the road near Koteshwara Bye pass after work while the 407 vehicle transporting vegetables sped past a bus after overtaking it and has hit Anwar.

Anwar who fell on the road divider was badly injured on the head.  He was rushed to Manipal private hospital after first aid at local private hospital.  However he has succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.  The vehicle is said to be of Mangalore registration and the name of the driver is Janardhan.

Anwar was married and has left behind two sons.

Kundapur Dy SP C B Patil, circle inspector P M Diwakar and traffic SI Imran have visited the spot and conducted inquest.  A police case is registered at Kundapur traffic police station.
