BJP's 2nd list creates rift : Udupi - Shobha, Mysore - Pratapsimha

Bangalore, Mar 13 (DHNS) : The State BJP has recommended to the party’s central election committee that former minister Shobha Karandlaje be fielded from the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, former minister and MP C H Vijayashankar from Hassan and journalist Pratap Simha from Mysore.

The State election committee, which met in Bangalore on Wednesday to finalise candidates for eight Lok Sabha constituencies, also recommended the candidature of former Pollution Control Board chairman B Shivalingaiah from Mandya and former legislator Bethamangala Narayanaswamy from Kolar. MLC Veeraiah too was aiming for the Kolar seat. The BJP has already announced candidates for 20 constituencies.

Party sources said it was at the instance of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa that the name of Karandlaje was finalised for Udupi-Chikmagalur. Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi had strongly opposed her candidature.

Yeddyurappa had insisted that his loyalist and sitting MP G S Basavaraj be allowed to re-contest from Tumkur. A majority of the party leaders are against Basavaraj for his alleged anti-party activities. A final decision will be taken at the party’s central election committee meeting in New Delhi on Thursday. If winning ability was the only factor, then Yeddyurappa may succeed in getting Basavaraj the ticket.

The party has recommended journalist Pratap Simha for Mysore, though he had sought ticket from Udupi-Chikmagalur. Simha works with a Kannada daily in Bangalore and is known for his pro-Hindu stance. He is from Hassan. By fielding Simha, the party is planning to polarise the Vokkaliga and pro-Narendra Modi votes in the constituency.

Simha’s candidature from Mysore is likely to upset Vijayashankar, who had represented Mysore two times in Parliament. Vijayashankar was keen that he be allowed to contest from Mysore. Sources close to Vijayashankar said he was least interested in contesting from Hassan. However, the BJP thinks that Vijayashankar, being a Kuruba, would be able to garner his community’s votes. The Lingayats would stand by the BJP. These two factors may help in fighting Deve Gowda.

Hi all,
I m from Mysore. I didn't know who is pratap simha ?? Is he a good candidate from our constituency?? Y don't BJP high command give ticket to someone we know ?? if pratap contest from here then he will loose deposit..C H Vijayashankar (BJP)was twice a MP in our constituency. He can give a tough fight for other party candidates.

Recently this Bettale Pratap Simha had written in a very nasty manner against Aam Aadmi Party & Kejriwal by making baseless charges in his notorious Column in Kannada Prabha.
Hence, now the Number one enemy of AAP workers in our Coorg district is this Bettale Simha. Coorg comes under Mysore Constituency where this Naked Man is contesting.
BJP will be in fourth Position in Mysore after Cong, JDS & AAP.

Pratap Simha has to come out of his hate mentality and biased vision. Other than NAMO factor "Bettale" man is zero.

Whereas Shobhakka is able candidate and can do pro-constituency work. It will be difficult to win against candidate like JPH. We can expect a tough fight in Udupi provided - Haladi supporters of Udupi and Vokkaliga's in Chikmagalore favor Shobhakka.

As per my estimate both seat gone from the hands of BJP.

Santhosh Tammaiah from Mysore writes for Hosa Digantha Newspaper who is more provocative than Naked Simha. Besides Tammaiah is originally from Coorg which is a part of Mysore Constituency. Then Why he did not get ticket instead of Simha ?
Because Naked Simha & his boss - Editor Vishveshwara Bhat are very close to Shakuni Anantu. Vishvesh Bhat was Personal Secretary to Shakuni Anantu before joining Vijaya Karnataka as Editor. So it is Shakuni who got ticket to Simha.

Sobha is no match for JP Hegde in Udupi. Am sure BJP did this on purpose. They wanted to make Yeddi Happy of fielding Sobha at the same time they don't want her winning & getting powerful. This way Sobha can be sidelined as looser candidate. People like Shakuni Ananth Kumar & Sobha not loosing will be blessing in Disguise for BJP.

He got Site under handicap quota in Mysore as his wife is said to be slightly handicapped. But it is said that he returned that site as some people raised objection about him not being a permanent resident of Mysore. In Mysore he is still considered as an outsider and also not pure Vokkaliga.

Without the support of Haladi Srinivas Shetty, the BJP can never win in this Constituency. Moreover, if AAP gives ticket to some good honest candidate, then the majority of the younger generation will vote for AAP inspite of knowing that the AAP will not win.
