Kundapur, Mar 13: Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of this sub-division, C B Patil, advised the people to celebrate coming Holi festival in a traditional manner.

In view of the election code of conduct being in force, the people were advised to discharge their responsibilities without giving cause for complaints, and cooperate with the police department. “Festivals are to be celebrated in a way everyone shares the joy, without hurting the sentiments of others. Our departments will support this kind of celebration,” he added.

He was addressing a peace meet of people from different communities, organized on Wednesday March 12 at Konchady Radha Shenoy government higher primary school hall in Kharvikeri here. The meeting was held in preparation for the forthcoming Holi festival.

Police circle inspector from the town, Diwakar, expressed satisfaction at the peace prevalent in Gangolli region, in spite of the area having been categorized as super sensitive. He hailed the village for prospering with cooperation from all the communities, and gave some suggestions for celebrating festivals without violating legal provisions.

Kharvi community leader, Nagaraja Kharvi, Venkatesh Kotian, Ravindra Patel, Nagappaiah Patel etc spoke on celebrating festivals. Former Mandal Pradhan,B Sadananda Shenoy, former taluk panchayat member, Surendra Kharvi, gram panchayat member, Younis Saheb, Gangolli police assistant sub-inspector, Babu, and others were present.
