Udupi, Jun 4: The first of its kind in the Southern region, the Manipal Institute of Jewellery Management (MIJM) got its new campus at Perampalli. The foundation stone for the new building was laid on Saturday, June 4.

Swarna Jewellery House and key motivator of MIJM founder Gujjadi Narasimha Nayak laid the foundation for the first stage of construction which includes an area of 25,000 sq ft. The building would consist of main block, boy’s hostel, girl’s hostel and a mess.

The construction work is expected to complete within one year following which the institute will begin operating from the new building.

The second phase will involves the development of for working jewellery industry model based on work clustering.

MIJM, a branch campus affiliated to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education was set up in 2005 by Swarna Abharan Education foundation.
