Udupi: Bus hits roadside tree - Several injured

Udupi, Mar 14: After the driver of a private bus lost control over his vehicle near Padavu on Shirva-Belman state highway, the bus hit a roadside tree. Several passengers were injured in the incident, which occurred on Thursday March 13.

The bus, being driven towards Shirva from Belman, was reportedly trying to avoid hitting a vehicle coming from opposite direction, when the mishap occurred.

Gerald Fernandes (53) from Belman, Shakuntala (58) from Belman Jantra, Veera Philomena Fernandes (47) from Belman, and Sangeetha (26) from Shirva sustained serious injuries, while several others escaped with minor cuts and bruises.

The front portion of the bus was badly mangled in the accident, but the driver unhurt. A case in this respect was registered in Shirva police station.
