Mangalore, Mar 14: “The BJP is fooling the people of the district by asking votes in the name of Narendra Modi instead of Nalin Kumar Shetty.
Narendra Modi is not the candidate from BJP in Dakshina Kannada,” said Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal.
He was addressing the press at the district Congress office on Thursday March 13.
Bantwal said, “Congress candidate Janaradhana Poojary is not asking votes in the name of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, or Manmohan Singh. But he pleads for votes on his own merit. But BJP is asking the vote in the name of Modi. Why doesn’t Nalin Kumar Shetty have the efficiency to plead for votes on his own merit of five years? What is his contribution to the district? He is not confident of winning. Asking votes in the name of Modi instead of Nalin Kumar is fooling the people of the district. It is also a form of corruption.”
“The BJP had published the calendars depicting great religious leaders, which is violation of the election code of conduct. We will bring this to the notice of the election commission,” he said.
Commenting on Gujarat, Bantwal said, “In Gujarat, there is a drinking water problem; people are deprived of proper health care and education facilities”. He also commented on problems of mosquitoes near the Rukmini Temple in Gujarat due to untidiness.Kalige Tharanath Shetty, spokesperson, district Congress party said, “The handout and booklets published by the BJP party does not have the names of publishers. This will be brought to the notice of the election commission. Nalin Kumar Kateel should also tell us what his contribution in five years has been to the district and how many questions he has raised in Parliament? Or else, we will get this information through RTI.”
