Mangalore: Congress leaders express anger over morphed images of Poojary

Mangalore, Mar 15: Expressing anger over the defamatory posts on social media that show Congress MP Candidate B Janardhana Poojary in bad light and ridiculing his image, district Congress spokesperson Ivan D’ Souza said “Social evil elements are involved in posting and writing against Congress MP candidate B Janardhan Poojary. They are trying to create a misconception about Poojary. These are political strategies that are planned to target Poojary during the forthcoming elections. Social media posts by changing the fact are considered to be an offence under the Informational Technology Act section 67."
 
He was addressing the press meet here at the District Congress office on Saturday March 15.

He also said “This has been brought to the notice of the police commissioner. He asked us to file a complaint concerned police station which we had already done. Miscreants also showed Poojary as a ‘Golibaje’ seller which is a really heinous image. B Janardhana Poojary is a role model to the whole country. Such a person has been shown in a bad light; this is hurting sentiments of many. We also urged the police to take proper action against them.

A complaint has been filed by Ivan D’ Souza and Kallige Tharanath Shetty on behalf of DK district congress.

Kallige Tharanath Shetty spoke on this occasion.

Nazeer Bajal, Sahul Hammed, Alster D’ Cunha and others were also present.
