Mangalore: Bishop asks mayor to focus on basic needs of city

Mangalore, Mar 17: Newly-elected mayor Mahabala Maarla and deputy mayor Kavitha Hoigebazar along with the chairmen of various MCC committees on Monday March 17 paid a visit to the Bishop’s House and sought blessings from Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore diocese.

The bishop held a discussion with the officials and urged them to focus on the basic necessities of the people of Mangalore like drinking water, roads etc. He also urged them to do their duty sincerely, and render their services to all people irrespective of caste and creed.

Responding to his suggestions, the mayor and the deputy mayor promised to live up to the expectations of the people of the city.

On behalf of the Karnataka Konkani Academy, its president Roy Castelino and members Lawrence D’Souza and Lullus Cutinho Bangalore, and on behalf of the Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, its president Stany Alvares and member Vitori Karkal also met the Bishop.

Vicar general Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Vijay of Sandesha, Fr William Menezes PRO of Mangalore diocese,  Fr J B Crasta, parish priest of Rosario Church,  Ashok D K, Vinay Raj A C, Sabitha Misquith, Asha D’Silva and others were present.

    People can sit at home and Pray... and his job is not to protect those places.. Let him concentrate on the basic Infrastructure of the city.. and one request of mine is.. Please ban all the processions and festivals that are being celebrated on the middle of the roads. if they are so keen let them book Grounds and have it organized there and not obstruct public in any way

    Nice gesture by the new Mayor of Mangalore and his team.I would have equally happy had this team also visited Kadri Temple,Venkataramana Temple,Car street,Mangaladevi temple ,Kudroli Temple and Ulla Darga to seek blessings and completed the rituals in a single day and then sit in business as one year is coming to close after LB elections and only 4 years left now to show their capabilities of Admn.They should not forget that people are more watchful now ever before.
