Mangalore, Jun 5: A spotted deer was found in a well in the farm belonging to M R H Poonja in Mulki on Monday around 6 am.

A woman from the farm who had gone to draw water from the well spotted the animal. Thinking that a calf had fallen into the well she alerted the people around. When it was pulled out, they realized that it was a spotted deer and not a calf.

Being a grown up animal, the deer was quite restless because of the human presence and was struggling to escape. With the slight injury, it appeared to be quite scared also. Until around 10-00 am it remained under the physical control of the people who brought it out of the well.

Then it was handed over to the forest officials from Moodbidri. The public are puzzled as to how a grown-up wild animal could land in a farm. It is suspected that it may have escaped from a vehicle while being transported illegally.
